When he struggled with Aram-naharaim and with Aram-zobah, and Joab returned, and smote twelve thousand of Edom in the Valley of Salt.

1O God, You have rejected us. You have
Or broken out upon us
broken us;
You have been angry; Oh, restore us.
2You have made the
Or earth
land quake, You have split it open;
Heal its breaches, for it shakes.
3You have caused Your people to see hardship;
You have given us
Lit wine of staggering
wine to drink that causes reeling.
4You have given a banner to those who fear You,
Or That it may be displayed because of the truth
In order to flee to it from the bow.
Selah may mean Pause, Crescendo, Musical Interlude
Selah.
5That Your beloved may be rescued,
Save with Your right hand, and answer
Some mss me
us!
6God has spoken in His
Or sanctuary
holiness:
“I will exult, I will portion out Shechem and measure out the valley of Succoth.
7“Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine;
Ephraim also is the
Lit protection
helmet of My head;
Judah is My
Or lawgiver
scepter.
8“Moab is My washbowl;
Over Edom I shall throw My shoe;
Make a loud shout, O Philistia, because of Me!”
9Who will bring me into the fortified city?
Who
Or has led
will lead me to Edom?
10Have You Yourself, O God, not rejected us?
And will You, O God, not go forth with our armies?
11Oh give us help against the adversary,
For salvation
Lit of
by man is worthless.
12
Or In, With
Through God we shall do valiantly,
And it is He who will tread down our adversaries.
